The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Hugh Hunt can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolences

Condolence From: Anne (Baker) & Paul Valentine
Condolence: Dear Inge and Family,
I am currently reading a book and these lines happened to be in it:
"Hugh is an excellent name.
It means heart, mind, spirit. Any man with a name like that cannot be bad".

Hugh fit that description completely, and whenever I think of Hugh, I always smile.

He was one of the brightest lights in my high school days and after - a constant friend.
Hanging out with the gang, banjo always at hand, and a big grin on his face - those are some of the things I remember.

He also had an uncanny ability to arrive at my parents' home just after the European Bakery delivered their still warm rye bread. (I think he actually caught a ride on the truck one day...).

I don't think I can count the number of hours we spent together just being friends: talking with my parents, playing cards, watching hockey on the black & white TV. Not typically alone; there were a lot of our other friends who were hanging together with us. But I do know that Hugh was one of the core of people who got me through my teens so that I had no major angst.

Our family moved to Edmonton in 1969 and I sure missed my friend. We were thrilled when Hugh visited Paul & me a year or three later. I remember being happy when he spoke about this great girl he had met named Inge & later I was happier still to learn they married.

We may not have seen much of each other in the years from then to now - a few visits between Calgary and Edmonton. Thankfully the internet really helped us to keep in touch. I loved sending him jokes & couldn't wait for his witty replies. With those replies, I always got an update on what was new with the family, Inge, James, Lindsay, Kelly and later, the grandchildren.

He was my good friend.
I will miss him.

Condolence: Inge and family,
I was saddened to hear of your loss. I will remember Hugh as a friendly soul with an easy going manner. Hugh actually hired me at CIBC when I moved to Regina. His encouragement and easy going manner made him a great coworker.
My sincere sympathy,
Susan
