Obituary for
Hugh Roland Hunt
It is with great sadness that the family of Hugh Roland Hunt announces his sudden passing on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at the age of 73, in Melville, SK. He will be missed by his wife of 43 years, Inge; his three children and six grandchildren: Lindsay and Garth Shoemaker (Madison, Dawson, Joshua and Jacob), James and Samantha Hunt (Marshall and Ryder) and Kelly. Also left to mourn is his sister Marion MacDuff - predeceased by husband Ian (Joseph, Holly, Leslie and Scott). He was predeceased by his parents Ruth and Walter.
Hugh was born in Toronto. In 1972 he met Inge, and in 1973 they married in Orillia, ON. Hugh loved the cottage country with its boating and fishing. In 1975 the couple moved to Regina for work, and there they decided to start a family. They stayed in Regina for many years raising their three kids and participating in various activities. Hugh was an active member of the Home Builders, Toastmasters and Masons. His passions for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the Toronto Maple Leafs and for music were legendary and always near to his heart. In 1995, CIBC transferred the family to Calgary, AB. Hugh spent his years in Calgary working as a mortgage specialist, realtor and in the transportation industry. Eventually, Hugh and Inge made the decision to move back to Saskatchewan and settled in Melville, where Hugh would live for the next ten years. He enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, playing guitar, reading and kibitzing with neighbours. He always had a soft spot in his heart for reminiscing about the good ol' days, telling a tall tale or two. He loved a good laugh.
Hugh’s family will miss him greatly. A memorial will be held in Hugh's honour in Melville at a later date. Donations can be made through Matthews Funeral Home to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
