L. M. (Bob) McWhirter passed away peacefully on Monday, June 21, 2021, in Melville, SK, at the age of 93 years. He was born in Redvers but lived most of his life in Regina. In later years, he lived with daughter Pam and son-in-law Grant Edwards and at St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville.

Bob is survived by sister Myrna Allberg, son Bryan McWhirter, daughter Pam (Grant) Edwards, granddaughter Whitney (Brad Wilson), great-grandson Zane Wilson, and many nieces and nephews. His beloved wife, Lorraine, passed away in 2016.

Bob was well known in the curling community through his many years of bonspiels, club managing and for giving curling instruction clinics around the province. He also worked at the Wascana Country Club and for Regina Parks and Recreation.

A memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Regina Humane Society would be appreciated.

Bob was a lovely man and a great neighbour. Years after I moved from the block I would hear whistling in the grocery store and turn around...sure enough it was him! He was always happy to see me and it was always fun to catch up. His good nature defined him. My condolences.

I’m so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. Bob started out as my curling coach and became one of my best lifelong friends. I have so many fond memories of time spent with Bob - curling and golfing and watching and discussing all sports. In later years, Bob became my fishing buddy, spending many hours chasing walleye until it became too difficult for Bob to handle the first mate duties.
Thank you Pam for staying in touch with me and arranging telephone conversations with your dad. I hope they meant as much to him as they did to me.
Finally, what a great picture of Bob you chose for this notice. It captures him perfectly.

Please accept my condolences. I was fortunate to know Bob through curling. I learned many aspects of the game from Bob. He was always willing to share his knowledge and help whenever asked. I am grateful to have known Bob. I keep you in my prayers. Ron Pugsley

My condolences to the McWhirter family on the passing of Bob. I got to know Bob in 1970 at the Regina curling rink and at the age of 15 he changed my curling delivery to a flatfooted delivery. For the next 25 years I curled with that same delivery and it served me well. Bob was a good person, a good curler and a great teacher of the game. I am so sorry for your loss and he will always be remembered.
