Obituary for Genevieve "Gen" Adams (Wassil)

Genevieve "Gen" Adams (Wassil)
Genevieve Adams (nee Wassil) of Melville passed away Friday, October 30, 2015 at the age of 89 years. Gen was born August 17, 1926, on the family farm to Agnes and Adam Wassil. She was the third eldest of six children: Vi, Jim, Gen, Alice, Marvel and Midge. During her early years, Gen attended Success School until the age of 14, when she contracted tuberculosis. She enjoyed many sporting activities, family picnics and school functions throughout her youth.

Gen met the love of her life, William (Bill) Adams, and they were joined in marriage in April of 1951. They were soon blessed with four daughters: Gail, Linda, Cheryl and Judy. Throughout the years, Gen enjoyed volunteering her time with the CWL and hospital auxiliary. She was an avid bowler with the Thursday Night Ladies Bowling League. She enjoyed this very much and looked forward to it every week. Gen also was an exceptional Tupperware sales lady. She travelled extensively throughout the province hosting parties and selling her product. She found great pleasure spending time with family and friends, whether it was at church, coffee row at Nellies Bakery, or getaways at the family cabin down at Crooked Lake. Her grandchildren were such a joy to spoil. She welcomed everyone with loving arms and a warm home.

Due to her deteriorating health, Gen sold the family-built home on 6th Avenue West and moved to Legion Manor. Then in September of 2014, she moved to St. Paul Lutheran Home, where she remained until the evening of her passing. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by those who knew her.

Gen was predeceased by her husband, Bill Adams; brother Jim, parents Agnes and Adam, sister Vi, brothers-in-law Clarence, Art and Palmer, sister-in-law Ramona, son-in-law Don, nephew Scott, a grandchild in infancy and three great-grandbabies in infancy. Left to celebrate her life are her children: Gail Holliday, Melville, SK, Linda Currie (Dale Bojarski), Penticton, BC, Cheryl Barnett, Regina, SK, and Judy Adams (Carter Sauer), Regina, SK; her grandchildren: Leslie Holliday, Regina, SK, Carrie Holliday, Melville, SK, Jillian Holliday (Randy Kormos), Melville, SK, Clint Holliday (Becca Frick), Melville, SK, Josh Currie (Kayla Kilba), Mackenzie, BC, Travis Currie (Joanna Skalid), Mackenzie, BC, Danielle (Jason) Maier, Regina, SK, Rob (Leanne) Barnett, Martensville, SK, Corinne Barnett (Jeff Marshall), Regina, SK, Cody Sauer (Steph Dimen), Regina, SK; her great-grandchildren: Christopher, Tyler, Tristan, Ashton, Emma, Jack, Kyle, Kylana, Samantha, Aiden, Jordyn, Jade, Brayden, Nathan, Skylar, Truce, Emerson and Zach; her sisters: Alice Banister, Duncan, BC, Marvel Wassill, Victoria, BC, and Midge (Elmer) Walden, Saskatoon, SK; and numerous other relatives and friends..
