Obituary for
Clifford Amos Sparks
Clifford Amos Sparks, otherwise known as Sparky, was born to Wilbur and Evelyn at Portage La Prairie, MB on December 6, 1936.
Cliff was raised at High Bluff, MB in his younger years until the family moved to Portage la Prairie where he went to school and worked various jobs. The family then moved on to Brandon, MB where he worked for the CPR.
In 1964 the family transferred to Melville, SK. Cliff traveled daily back and forth to the Esterhazy mine where he worked as a high rigger. That same year, at age 28, he was hired by CNR, working car shops and the yard until his early retirement on June 1, 1993, at age 57 when he started facing health problems that would later affect the rest of his life.
Cliff met the love of his life Irene Mears in Melville while living in the same apartment building. The two were united together on May 31, 1966, and were blessed with 51 years of marriage. Their family of two became four with the birth of their daughters, Tammy and Candace.
Many knew Cliff as a kind and giving soul, having put many people before himself. He had a good zest for life in good and bad times and always had a joke or story to tell. Cliff was born with the love of music and could play any instrument that came his way. He enjoyed the simple things in life - the outdoors, working on a project, creating artwork, spending time with his beloved family and friends and caring for the many animals that came and went out of his life. He was a hard-working man, jack-of-all-trades, a caregiver and a family man.
In 2016 Cliff and Irene moved to Brandon, MB to spend the last of his time on earth with his immediate family. His lifetime battle came to a close on Monday, July 17, 2017, at the age of 80. He passed away at home with his precious wife "Rene" and his two daughters by his side.
Predeceased by his parents Wilbur and Evelyn, Cliff leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Irene of Brandon, MB; daughter Tammy Swabuck, granddaughter Stephanie Swabuck and great-grandchildren Connor and Christopher of Brandon, MB; daughter Candace Sparks and former son-in-law Dale Truax, children Kassidy and Dylan James of Brandon, MB; Aunt Pauline Winter of Vernon, BC and her children; cousin Arnold and Signey Austin of Ontario and their children; and numerous extended family and close friends.
