With our deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of Margery Ruth Unterschute, whose life’s journey ended on Sunday, June 17th, 2007 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville. Marge was born in Melville on June 22, 1944 to Emil and Ruth Rathgeber of Melville. She attended school locally to Grade 12, then convocated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1965 with a degree in nursing. She then began her legacy of service to St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville from 1965 to 2002. She was a scholar – always learning; she achieved the Governor’s General Award for her Diploma in Health Care Administration during her full and very rewarding career. Caring for others was always her focus – touching many lives with her generous spirit and gentle healing hands. She epitomized the phrase ‘patient advocate’.

Marge married Delwyn Unterschute (son of Arthur and Eloise of Melville) on May 21, 1966. Together they raised their family in Melville. Marge’s hobbies included reading, baking, spending precious time at their cabin at McBride Lake, and traveling. Her nursing career was a very important part of her life and she will always be remembered for her dedication and service.

Marge was predeceased by her father, Emil Rathgeber and his wife Vivian; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Eloise Unterschute; her granddaughter Tiffany Ortynski; her brothers-in-law Jack Miller, Ted Gelowitz, and Garry Unterschute; a niece Lorie Gelowitz; and several aunts and uncles. She leaves to cherish her memory and to celebrate her life: her husband, Delwyn; her children, Leanne (Brad) Ortynski and Brett Unterschute of Melville; two grandchildren, Riley and Logan Ortynski of Melville; her mother, Ruth Rathgeber of Melville; two brothers, Lorne (Carol) Rathgeber of Calgary and Robert Rathgeber (Sharon Russell) of Edson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Yvonne (Doug) McAuley of Regina; Laraine Gelowitz of Grayson, Garth (Elaine) Unterschute of Edmonton, Garnet (Pat) Unterschute of Melville and Murray (Lynette) Unterschute of Melville; and many nieces and nephews.
