Irene was born on March 31, 1935, on the Tempel farm near Neudorf, SK. She was the oldest of six children and devoted much of her time to helping her parents on the farm and caring for her younger siblings. She married the love of her life, Herb, on January 1, 1955. Raising their four children between the Baber farm near Neudorf and their home in Regina, Irene and Herb enjoyed socializing with family and friends, camping and travelling. Once their children were grown, they settled in Neudorf and were blessed to spend 57 wonderful years together, where they continued to farm until Herb’s passing in 2012. Irene loved her family and filled her home with warmth and kindness. Her favourite pastimes included gardening, baking, sewing, crocheting and keeping in touch with those she loved. She will be very missed.

The funeral service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Neudorf, SK, on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Baber Cemetery in the Neudorf district. A special thank you to the staff at the Transitional Care Unit (TCU) at Regina Pioneer Village for the exceptional care and kindness they provided to Irene and her family during her time spent there.
