It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Walkington of Melville, SK, on Monday, December 26, 2022, at St. Peter’s Hospital, Melville. Robert passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 74 years.
Robert was born to Jack and Vera (nee Aldous) Walkington on February 19, 1948, in Balcarres, SK. He was the second of five children and was raised on a farm near Finnie, SK. Rob spent his early years working with the family in their trucking and farming operation known as Walkington & Sons. Rob spent his life trucking, eventually starting General Trucking with his brother-in-law, Milton, and later on his own as Walkington Trucking until recent years due to health reasons.
Rob really enjoyed spending time at the lake visiting with family and friends, as well as cruising around, whether it was checking crops or on holidays. He was always behind the wheel going somewhere.
Rob’s two passions in life were trucking and following his grandchildren to their many accomplishments and sporting events. He was so proud of all of them and everything they loved to do.
Rob was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Vera; his grandparents, Fred and Mabel Walkington and Bert and Kay Aldous; his uncles and aunts, Herb Walkington, Francis Walkington, Nora and Douglas Aldous, Bob and Elsie Aldous; his brother, Ron Walkington; and his infant daughter, Kimberly Walkington. He is survived by his sons, Troy (Jenifer), their children, Cailin and Mackenzie; Cory (Tryna), their children, Brendon, Austin, Natalie and Alyssa; his sisters, Donna (Milton) Wurts, Beverley (Greg) Bennett and Betty (Alex) Molnar; his partner, Lucille Kohlenberg, and her children, Chad (Charla) Kohlenberg, their children, Taylor and Brooke; Carissa (Bobby) Nye, their children, Nicholas, Samantha and Jessica; his nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.
