Doris Harpold of Moosomin and formerly of Wapella, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022, at the age of 81 years. Doris was born Saturday, May 10, 1941 at Strome, Alberta, to George and Florence (Taylor) Rancier.

Doris was the kind of person you would find in the dirt in many ways, whether it be in the many flowerbeds she had, in the garden, cutting grass or working in the field back in the day. She loved being outside and loved the farm life. She enjoyed going for walks, whether it was in the pasture, down an old dirt road or around town. Doris was the type of person who never sat still - she was always the first one on her street to have her driveway shovelled off or to be out watering her grass at the crack of dawn.

Doris met her true love, Ralph, from Young, SK, and they were married in 1964. They lived in Christina Lake, BC, where they owned a gas station and then made the move to Wapella, SK, to farm for many years before retiring in 2002. She and Ralph moved to Moosomin in 2006, where they enjoyed spending time with the grandkids, taking a few camping trips, boating and fishing. Family was everything to her, and there was nothing that she wouldn’t do for them.

Doris was predeceased by her father, George Rancier; her mother, Florence Rancier; brothers William Rancier, Howard Rancier and Oliver Rancier; sister Margaret Rancier; husband Ralph Harpold; and son Wayne Harpold. She leaves to cherish her memory: sisters Irene, Hazel, Joyce and Mildred; brothers Howard, Glenn and Larry; son Byron Harpold; daughter Shelley (Cory) McGonigal; grandchildren Kristina, Blayde, Kolton and Ciara; and many other family and many great friends.

Doris passed away with her family by her side, and she will be forever loved and missed by many.

He Only Takes the Best
God saw you were getting tired
and a cure was not to be.
So he put His arms around you
and whispered “Come with me”.
With tear-filled eyes we watched you,
and saw you pass away.
Although we loved you deeply,
we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard-working hands put to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
he only takes the best
