It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Vera Demofsky of Whitewood, SK. Vera peacefully passed away at the Whitewood Community Health Centre on Saturday, February 26, 2022. She was in her 100th year.

Vera was born to Andrew and Vera Konkin of Veregin, SK, on November 4,1922. Upon graduating from Veregin High School, Vera entered the field of education and graduated as a teacher from the Regina Normal School. She taught school until 1948, when she married Mike Demofsky. Vera and Mike had attended school together in Veregin. They settled in Whitewood, where they remained and raised their three children, Ron, Linda and Darlene.

Vera was a loving wife and mother. She was an avid gardener and a devoted homemaker. Vera was an active member of the UCW , Royal Purple and involved with various other community activities. She was also a sports fan and enjoyed following baseball, hockey and curling.

Mike and Vera travelled extensively and enjoyed spending the summer months with the family at their cabin at Round Lake. Upon retirement, they spent their winter months in Mesa, AZ.

Vera was predeceased by her loving husband, Mike, her parents and brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son, Ron (Pat); daughters Linda (David) and Darlene (John); grandchildren Brianna (Dwayne), Lane and Sarah; great-grandchildren Miriam and Haizlee; as well as nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

The family is deeply grateful to the Whitewood Community Health Centre for the tender, loving care they showed to Vera throughout her stay.

A private interment service was held at the Whitewood Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Barbara Wilkins. Memorial donations may be made to the Whitewood United Church.
