McDonald Rosenthal passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at St. Peter’s Hospital, Melville, SK, at the age of 90 years.

Don, as he was known, was born on October 13, 1931, to Edward and Elizabeth Rosenthal (nee Staats) at Bittern Lake, AB. As a small child, he moved to the Neudorf, SK, district with his parents. He attended school at Ulmer Pheasant Hill School.

In 1947, Don was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Neudorf. When he was 15 years old, he started to help his father with the trucking business, until the fall of 1949 when they moved to a farm at the top of the Qu’Appelle valley.

On February 11, 1956, Don was united in marriage to Margaret Goebel. This union was blessed with two sons, Tim and Rodney.

Don and Margaret farmed in the Neudorf area for the next eight years, then they relocated to a farm north of Virden, MB, for a short time, moving back to the farm at Neudorf in 1966. In 1967, they moved into town.

Don worked at various jobs: operating a Caterpillar, installing telephone line, as a mechanic and as a welder. He was the town skating rink maintenance man for three seasons. If anyone in the area needed something fixed, Don was the man to call, as he loved to tinker with machines and appliances in order to get them up and running again. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and a good visit with friends and family.

Don was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Elizabeth Rosenthal; two brothers in infancy; his in-laws, Jacob W. and Tillie Goebel; brothers-in-law Val Rathgeber, Clarence, Robert, Herbert and Donald Goebel, Bill Gaebel and Edward Steingart; and sisters-in-law Jean Gaebel, Eunice Popowich, Diana Goebel, Elsie Goebel and Shan Goebel. He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife, Margaret; sons Tim (Candace) and Rodney (Heather); grandchildren Tyler, Josh (Suzette), Randy (Kaitlin), Curtis, Sarah (Coe) and Jacob (Ashley); great-grandchildren Aileyh, Sadie, Scotty, Cabrey and Gideon; his sister, Helen Rathgeber; sisters-in-law Thelma Steingart, Susan (Dave) McInnes and Lorraine Gabel; nephews Bruce, Glen (Eileen), Terry (Sandie), Russel (Tamara), Ian (Meg) and Dustin (Tanya); nieces Charlotte (Aaron), Serena, Lori (Wayne) and Amber; great-nieces and -nephews Brittany, Thomas, Leah, Reagan, Coltin, Jetta, Anakin and Angelika.
