Lynne Merle Parsons of Grenfell, SK, passed away on June 16, 2021, at the age of 81 years.
Lynne was born July 1, 1939, in Grenfell, SK, to Denys and Beatrice Parsons. He attended school in Grenfell and married his high school sweetheart, Mavis Yule, on August 6, 1960. They celebrated their 60th anniversary in the midst of COVID-19 in 2020.
After a two-year stint working as a surveyor, Lynne returned to farm north of Grenfell. Farming was a calling rather than a job, and over the years, Lynne and Mavis grew grain and raised a variety of cattle, pigs, chickens, and even three children!
Lynne was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed travelling and dancing, but in true Saskatchewan-boy style, if you couldn’t find him on a tractor, the next best place to look was a rink. Lynne spent many hours playing, coaching, refereeing and watching hockey, as well as curling. Multiple generations of kids can attest to his involvement at the rink.
Lynne will be sorely missed by the love of his life, Mavis; daughter Heather (Dean) Dorgan and sons David Parsons (Sheri Christie) and Kent Parsons; grandchildren Tanys (Ryan) Archibald, Reed (Renee) Dorgan, Lynice (Kris) Firey, Kennen Dorgan, Sara (Malcolm) Vanstone, Sasha (Tony) Brigham, Shyanne (Justin) Inkson, Shyla Christie (Brenden Lusok) and Danielle Christie; and eight great-grandchildren, Zoey and Levi Archibald, Carter and Hannah Dorgan, Tate and Heath Firey, Autumn Vanstone and Lyla Inkson, as well as sisters-in-law Loy, Jean and Donna Parsons, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Lynne was also looking forward to a ninth great-grandchild. He has gone to wait for us with his daughter-in-law, Shelley Parsons, and siblings Joan (Blake) Amy and Denys, Les (Helen), Ellwyn (Ida) and Lyle Parsons, and Cameron (Ruth) Yule.
A graveside service will be held July 1, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., for family and invited guests (due to Covid-19). All others are invited to view the live-stream on the Matthews Funeral Home Facebook page. It is not necessary to have Facebook to access the link.
