Kurt Hein of Melville passed away peacefully at home, following an eight-year struggle with cancer, on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at the age of 68 years.

Kurt was born in Wiener Neustadt, Niederösterreich, Austria, on Sunday, April 13, 1952, to Arthur and Anna (nee Sponring) Hein. Along with his parents and sister, Kurt immigrated to Canada, coming to Regina, SK, when he was 7 years old. After arriving in Canada, another brother and sister were born.

The family moved to a farm near Killaly in the early 1970s, and Kurt worked with his dad in the business ‘Hein & Sons Drywall’. He would later take over the business when his father passed away. Kurt was married to June Goebel on September 11, 1976, and to that union, two daughters were born, Julie in 1977 and April in 1980.

Kurt always loved spending time with family and friends, traveling and going on cruises, snowmobiling with friends and riding his motorcycle with brother-in-law Tim. In retirement, Kurt spent lots of time tinkering, putzing and creating things from whatever he had or collected over the years. He will be remembered by many for always putting the needs of everyone else first.

Kurt leaves behind his wife, June; daughters Julie (Brad) and April; grandkids Halle and Eric; his two dogs, Rocky and Sheba; his brother, Art, and his sister, Susie. They and his extended family will miss him so much.
