Susan Shepherd of Whitewood passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019, at the age of 68 years.

Susan Jean Shepherd (Van Meer) was born on June 20, 1951, to Bob and June Van Meer (Sauter). She was second oldest, with an older sister and three younger brothers.

Sue, as everyone knew her, was raised at Moosomin, getting her Grade 12 at McNaughton High School in 1971. She was involved with CGIT, the yearbook, sports and the Baptist Young People. After graduation, Sue went to work for Town & Country Decorating, which also held the Eaton’s order office, and later became manager.

On March 29, 1975, Sue married Wayne Gorden Shepherd. They lived on a farm three miles north of Whitewood on the #9 highway. They had three daughters, Tamie Lennette, Elizabeth Nora (Beth) and Bobby-Joe (B.J.).

Sue was very active throughout her life as a member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary until it folded; she then became a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #87. Sue was also a very active member with KidSport. She was often seen around town doing some kind of fund raising to help kids in the community stay active in sports. She also worked at the Whitewood and District Nursing Home as a dietary aid until her retirement.

Sue was predeceased by her parents, Robert and June Van Meer; brother Bill Van Meer; in-laws Raymond and Phyllis Shepherd; and niece Randi Van Meer. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of 44 years, Wayne; daughter Tamie Shepherd, grandchildren Whisper (Cody) and Star, great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Addisen, Amara and Ameliea; daughter Beth Oslund (Steven Andrews), grandchildren Jaysen, Rayden, Ty-Lee, Drayke and Alexyn; daughter Bobby-Joe Granger (Dan), grandchildren Lylee and Daniel; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
