Elizabeth Doud (Brûlé) 1954 - 2019
Elizabeth Marie Simone Doud (Brûlé) was born on July 27, 1954, in Kipling, SK. She was the third eldest of 12 children. She grew up on a farm in the St. John district and attended school in Whitewood. She played many sports including volleyball, basketball and baseball.
In 1970 Liz met the love of her life, Lorne. They married in 1972 and settled on a farm along the Pipestone Valley where they welcomed two children, Sherry and Rob. Liz worked at the Hotel Café as a waitress, then at Tony’s Triple C as a cook. She then moved to the auction barn as a cook while she was taking courses to be an administrative assistant. Upon completion of her diploma, Liz got a full-time job at the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. This is where she would build her successful career. Although the names of the “Pool” changed over her 34 years in the agriculture industry, the relationships and friendships she built stayed strong. She truly loved her ‘daily grind’ – right up until her retirement in June 2017.
In her spare time, Liz loved her time with Lorne at the lake in the camper, spending time with family, fishing, and spending their evenings around the campfire with friends. They made many trips out west to visit her other three grandchildren - Lillie, Preston, and Liam - where she enjoyed her time spoiling them and building long-lasting memories.
Late this past August, Liz became ill and ultimately lost her battle to liver disease on March 7, 2019, in Moosomin with her family by her side, where she went peacefully with a smile on her face. But it was not without a fight, as Liz once again demonstrated her immense strength and courage, even in the face of her disease.
Liz was predeceased by her parents, Urbain and Alma Brûlé; baby sister Gabby; baby brother Dennis; sister Denise; and brother Lionel; her sisters-in-law, Candace MacDonald and Reta Brûlé; brother-in-law Curtis Doud; parents-in-law Edwin and Dorothy Doud; and son-in-law Barry McDougall. She is survived and loved by her husband Lorne Doud, children Sherry (James Miskiman – Megan, Jillian, Dusty) and Rob (Alicia – Lillie, Preston, Liam), and her beloved fur-baby, Willie. Liz will be forever missed by her surviving siblings, Tony (Darla), Wilfred (Brenda), Monica (Don), Helen (Terry), Maurice (Wendy), Bernard (Kim), Dennis (Hilda), and all of their extended families.
A special thank you to Dr. Van, the nurses in Moosomin, and all of her caregivers over the last six months. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation.
Arrangements are entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
