Obituary for Norman Daunheimer

Norman, beloved husband of Evangeline, was born April 18, 1934, to Mathias and Gertrude (Berryere) Daunheimer. Norman was confirmed into the faith on May 29, 1949, by Pastor William Riekert. Norman’s faith was strong at a very young age. He instilled it into his children and continued with Norman and Vangie regularly worshipping at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Melville.

Norman attended Reimer and Snowflake schools until Grade 8. He quit at that point because his Dad bought a new DC4, and Norman felt that farming with his Dad was much more important than finishing school.

Norman married Evangeline Zotzman on May 3, 1957, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Melville. This union was blessed with four children, Carol, Mark, Trent and Laurie. Norman and Vangie farmed east of Neudorf until the mid-1990s and then retired to Melville.

Norman had many interests including farming, music and sports. His most important interests were his family. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Norman was predeceased by his parents, Mathias and Gertrude Daunheimer; sister and brother-in-law Doris and Ed Waldbauer; his younger sister Junie; his son Mark; and his nephew Myron Waldbauer. Norman leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 61 years, Evangeline; his children, Carol (Barry) Maurer of Neudorf, Trent (Joanne) Daunheimer of Weyburn and Laurie (Fred) Werner of Churchbridge; his grandchildren, Scott Maurer (Stephanie Dube-Desrosiers) of Cold Lake, Tamara Maurer (Brent Machula) of Winnipeg, Janelle and Matthew Daunheimer of Weyburn, Wendy (Chris) Smith of Saskatoon and Susan Werner of Weyburn; his sisters, Irene (Don) Herman of Melville and Myrna (Perry) Stoik of Kelowna; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.
