Helen met Robert Fuchs in Regina in 1959 and fell in love. They married July 12, 1961, in Regina. Helen and Bob had their first child Dennis in 1964; Kim's birth followed in 1966. Following the birth of Kim, the family lived in Grayson, Esterhazy and Rocanville before finally settling in Esterhazy in 1975. While living in Esterhazy, Helen opened a nursery school with her good friend Dean which they ran together for many years. Helen was involved in her children's activities and never hesitated to volunteer for committees.

Helen had many activities that kept her busy such as ceramics, embroidery, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She lived in Esterhazy with Bob until they retired to Crooked Lake. Helen loved the lake and spent many happy occasions with family and friends. She and Bob then moved into Melville following the loss of their home at Crooked Lake in 2011.
