Obituary for Caroline Haas

Caroline Haas
Caroline Haas was born in Grayson on November 10, 1930. Caroline was the third of eight children born to Frank and Pauline (nee Exner) Fuchs. She grew up in the Grayson area and attended Hauer School until 1937, when her family moved to a farm east of Grayson; she then attended school at Grayson, where she finished Grade 8. Caroline was a good ball player and mostly helped her father work on the farm as well as helping with the barn dances they hosted. It was in the summer of 1951 that she met the love of her life, Jack Haas, at a sports day, and they married on November 10, 1953, in Grayson. Caroline was kind, friendly and had a good sense of humor. She learned to cook when she got married and became a great cook and baker. She also had a huge garden. In 1991 her son Ken took over the farm. Jack and Caroline semi-retired and moved to an acreage just south of the family farm. They had 7 children, 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Caroline enjoyed playing cards, dancing, listening to music, crocheting and watching Monday night wrestling with Jack, as well as visiting with whomever happened to appear at their doorstep. Her mobility declined over the past 20 years, and she couldn’t get out much. In the fall of 2015, Jack and Caroline moved to Melville, and that October Jack passed away. Caroline missed her soulmate and best friend dearly. She moved into St. Paul Lutheran home in March of 2016. She enjoyed the activities there and always spoke of all the friends she had there. Caroline was battling the flu these past few weeks and passed away on February 22, 2018.

Caroline was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Pauline (nee Exner); in-laws Frank and Helen (nee Reising) Haas; brothers Walter, Bill and Ernie; brothers-in-law Henry Baer, George Exner, Art Mallory, Joe Krumenacker, Joe Chastkavich, Joseph Haas in infancy, Frank Haas, John Haas, Bill Haas, Trowgert Radies, and Arnold Banga; sisters-in-law Alice Haas, Helen Haas, Marjorie Haas, Sylvia Fuchs, Annie Baer, Katherine Exner, Emily Mallery, Gertrude Haas, Mary Krumenacker and Marge Chastkavich; and grandchildren Jillian Zerr and Jason Haas.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her seven children: son Gerald (Kelly) of Pilot Butte and their family, Murray (Carmen) & children Lily, Wyatt and Zoey, Steven (Nikki) & children Keason, Jade and Daxon, and Amanda; son Ken (Val) of Killaly and their family, Randy(Emily), Danita (Davin) Kondra and Tyler; daughter Linda (Alan) Zerr of Regina and their son Andrew; son Hank of Regina; daughter Marian (Terrence) Kreiser of Killaly and their family Allyse (Amit) Tuli & sons Naveen and Harris, Adam and Nicole (Dustin); daughter Johanna (Perry) Powell of Killaly; daughter Christine of Regina; sisters Evelyn Radies and Mary Banga; brothers Raymond (Velma) Fuchs and Herb (Della) Fuchs; brother-in-law Victor Haas; sisters-in-law Anne Haas, Eileen Fuchs, Lorraine Fuchs and Gail Fuchs; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.
