Obituary for James Ellis

James Ellis
Jim Norman Ellis was born in Birtle, MB, on June 20, 1959, and was raised on a farm in the Foxwarren district, where he helped his dad, grandfather and uncle on the farm. He attended school in Birtle and after graduating, received his Business Administration degree with a double major in accounting. Jim worked in various Credit Unions doing collections, assistant manager and loans manager. He enjoyed his job for over 30 years.

Jim loved to play sports. He played hockey in college and was on various senior hockey teams. He was very proud when he was certified as a referee and reffed many games in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Jim married Yvonne Jeannot in 2001. He retired from the Credit Union system in 2010 and moved to Whitewood. After retirement, he enjoyed helping with harvest and cattle.

Jim died peacefully in the Broadview Union Hospital on Sunday, October 15, 2017. He leaves to lovingly cherish his memory: his wife, Yvonne; his parents, Bruce and Geraldine Ellis; three children, Colin (Teresa), Ben and Kori (Mike); seven grandchildren, Rydan, Lylah, Landyn, Peyton, Eli, Sophie and Clara; sisters Margy (Mike) and Francis; and numerous family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him well. A private ceremony will be held at a later date in Foxwarren, MB. Arrangements are entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Whitewood..
