Obituary for Irene Helen Taschuk (Kosa)

Irene Helen Taschuk (nee Kosa) was born to John and Irma(nee Almasi) Kosa at the family farm near Otthon, SK on April 19, 1928. After completing high school, she was employed by the Bank of Montreal. Irene married the love of her life, John Taschuk, on August 8, 1951. During the time that she raised their five children, she was employed at the St. Henry’s Roman Catholic Church rectory. Irene was very dedicated to her church, having been a member of the Catholic Women’s League of Canada for over 50 years.

Irene’s passions included gardening, golf and curling. Most of all, she was a devoted Blue Jays fan.
Irene and John had a wonderful retirement, travelling to Asia and Europe before wintering in Arizona for 20 years.

John passed away on April 26, 2001, and was greatly missed. After John’s passing, Irene moved to Regina and Calgary, before returning to Melville in 2016.

Irene passed away on August 28, 2017, at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband, John, and her brothers, Jack and Albert. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: James (Jackie) Taschuk of Melville, Joan (John) Chesney of Melville, Ronald (Brenda) Taschuk of Calgary, Catherine (Kevin) Bell of Melville and Michael Taschuk of Regina, as well as her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all those who touched her life.
