Obituary for Mary Yuhasz (Molnar)

Mary Yuhasz (Molnar)
Mary was born in Hungary to John and Mary Molnar, along with a brother, Alec. In 1926 Mary’s father immigrated to Canada to establish a homestead near Lestock, SK. Two years later, the family followed and settled into a simple life of farming and hunting. Two more sons were added to the family, Louie and David.

Even as a young girl, Mary enjoyed nature and loved flowers. No matter how poor they were, her mother always had a package or two of flower seed every spring for Mary to plant to brighten up the yard. Mary’s brother, Alec, shared the interest, for he would dig new flowerbeds for her to fill and make willow fences to decorate them. In later years, when Mary had children of her own, the miracle of sprouting seed and the amazing delicate shades of flowers were often a springboard to discussions about our loving God Jehovah.

In 1937 Mary married Frank Yuhasz. They raised six children: Elmer, Emil, Stanley, Sandra, Karine (Fisher) and Debbie (Terleski). They worked at mixed farming, first renting land, then buying and selling until they settled on a farm in the Langbank area. No matter where they lived, Mary tirelessly planted every sort of flower because, as she said, “God made all of them too beautiful to resist.”

To help keep the family fed and clothed, Mary extended her creativity to gardening, canning and sewing. Eventually she took up making quilts as bright and floral as her flowerbeds, many of which she gave as gifts which warmed the heart as much as the body.

In the 1940s, Frank and Mary were baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses. Thereafter, they spoke of the Bible’s good news to all in the community. Mary looked forward to the fulfilment of God’s promise to end sickness and to refresh the earth to paradise conditions, and she found comfort in the hope of receiving back her loved ones in the resurrection, as we now look forward to her return.

“And the One seated on the throne said: “Look, I am making all things new . . . these words are faithful and true.” Rev. 21:5
