Obituary for
Arthur Norman Lerat
Norman "Squeak" was born to Alexander and Emma (Louison) on Cowessess Reserve December 9, 1935. His schooling was at the Cowessess Indian Residential School. After he was done his schooling, Norman laboured for many years throughout Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. After returning home to Cowessess, he married Audrey Delorme on September 3, 1960. They had six children, Janice, Art, Rod, Linus, Patrick (deceased) and Emma.
Norman worked at Esterhazy mines to provide for his young family. Later he became the backhoe operator on Cowessess for 29 years until his retirement. Norman was also a rancher who raised many farm animals which included cows, chickens, horses and pigs.
Norman was a quiet, humble man, with strong family values. He had a great sense of humour, liked to tease and enjoyed a good laugh with family and friends. His 18 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews were his pride and joy. He always looked forward to visits with them.
Norman is survived by his wife Audrey; sons, Art (Donna), Rod (Colleen), Linus (Dennine); daughters, Janice and Emma (Richard); brothers, Raymond and Lewis; sisters, Verna (Din), Rose-Alma (Jo) and Muriel.
