Obituary for Frank Zulyniak

Frank Zulyniak
Frank Zulyniak passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 31, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Home, Melville, at the age of 89 years.

Frank was born on September 14, 1926, in the Beaverdale District to Frank and Annie (nee Pacholko) Zulyniak; he was the youngest of four children. In 1927 the family moved to the Plainview District, where Frank attended Plainview School. He left school at a young age and began farming with his dad. In his younger years, he enjoyed training horses and playing softball. Frank married Elsie Lutz on November 2, 1951, and together they had four children, Bev, Brad, Brian and Randy. They lived on the family farm until 1993 and then moved into Melville. He continued to farm with his sons until 1998 when he retired. Despite retiring, Frank still took great pride in the farm and helped with whatever he could for as long as he was able. Harvest was his favourite time of the year. After retirement he enjoyed going for coffee, playing cards, dancing, biking and bowling. Playing pool, however, was his favourite hobby. Together Frank and Elsie took many trips to BC to visit their family. They also enjoyed going to Manitou Springs. Frank’s greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Due to failing health, he became a permanent resident of St. Paul Lutheran Home on July 31, 2015.

Frank was predeceased by his parents Frank and Annie Zulyniak; his brother Mike and sister Mary; his mother and father-in-law Fred and Elizabeth Lutz; brothers-in-law Tony Ochitwa, John Wenet, Henry Stachowski, Willie Kerestesh and Alex Lypka; sisters-in-law Sandra Lutz and Mary Stachowski; a niece, Marlene Trebish and a nephew, Clifford Zulyniak.

Frank leaves to celebrate his memory: his loving wife of 64 years, Elsie; daughter Bev (Peter) Hanas and family, Trina, Trent and Tammy; son Brad (Pat) and family, Lori (Paul) Albers, Kristy (Jim) Elliott and Brittany (Andrew); son Brian (Cheryle) and family, Michael and Michelle (Chad); son Randy (Lori) and family, Kerra (Trent) Zabinsky and Jenna-Rae; one great-grandchild, Emily Foulston-Hanas; a sister Rose Ochitwa; sister-in-law Olga Zulyniak, sister-in-law Violet Kerestesh, brother-in-law Ed (Ruth) Lutz, brother-in-law Gordon (Joyce) Lutz, sister-in-law Ruth Lypka, brother-in-law Gerry (Johanna) Lutz and sister-in-law Janice (Gordie) McMaster, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.
