Obituary for Sophie Dorothy Varga (Kindrachuk)

Sophie Dorothy Varga, beloved wife of Jim Varga of Bangor, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010 at the age of 73 years. Sophie was born at Wilkie, SK on March 15, 1937 to Andrew and Pearl (nee Takaryk) Kindrachuk. She and her seven siblings grew up and attended school in Crooked River. Upon completing her schooling, Sophie worked at Fort San for a short time before moving to Regina to work as a nurses aide at the Regina General Hospital where she remained for ten years in the Red Cross Ward for handicapped children. Sophie soon met the love of her life, Jim Varga, and they were married May 28, 1960. Together they purchased land near Bangor and became farmers! With a yard full of animals and a huge garden life was full. Sophie and Jim always made time for their many nieces and nephews taking turns spending time on the farm; they loved and cherished every visit. To complete their dreams, daughter Corinne was born in 1969 and son Gerald in 1974. Together they enjoyed many camping trips, fishing trips and family gatherings. They always made time to be together and have fun. Sophie and Jim were blessed with their precious granddaughters, Brandy, Jody and Kayley. There wasn’t anything they wouldn’t do for them. “Spoil them rotten and send them home” was their motto. Unfortunately, Jody passed away in 1996 which devastated Sophie and Jim. But now we know that Grandma and Jody are together again.Sophie was predeceased by her parents; her in-laws, Kalmon and Erma (Bauer) Varga; granddaughter, Jody Semeniuk; sister, Olga Wasyluk; brother, Walter Kindrachuk; brothers-in-law, Fred Wasyluk, Don Rowley, Bill Molnar, Joe, Tony and Kalmon Varga; sister-in-law, Violet Molnar and nieces, Marilyn Rowley and Laurel Molnar. Sophie leaves to mourn: her loving husband, Jim; son, Gerald and daughter, Corinne (Dale) Woods and their children, Brandy Semeniuk (Dustin Metz) and Kayley Woods; sisters, Sylvia Kindrachuk, Natalie Rowley, Emily Lee, Alice (Winston) Newman, Mary (Michael) Stachniak; brother-in-law, Rudy (Margaret) Varga; sisters-in-law, Elsie Stephens, Katie Varga and Betty Varga; and many nieces and nephews.
