Obituary for
Michael Adam "Mike" Ottenbreit
Mike Ottenbreit of Balcarres, and formerly of Grayson, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2009 at the age of 92 years. Michael Adam was born to Adam and Rose (nee Huber) Ottenbreit on the family farm at Grayson and attended Flegel School followed by military training. On October 25, 1943 Mike married Rose Douhaniuk at St. Elizabeth Church, Killaly. Through 66 years of marriage Mike and Rose raised six children and were blessed with seventeen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mike was an ardent farmer and he and Rose lived on the farm until November of 1986 when they moved into Grayson. Mike enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and playing cards. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Family was everything to Mike - his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they too have many great memories of “Grandpa”. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Adam and Rose (nee Huber) Ottenbreit; two sisters, Clara Seibel and Theresa Szaroz; and two sons, Dennis and Rein. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Rose; six children, James (Mary) Ottenbreit of Devon, AB, Ivan (Vicki) Ottenbreit of Grayson, Veronica (Rene) Fendelet of North Battleford, Geralyn (Gary) Schnell of Kannata Valley, Karen (Todd) McCrae of Saskatoon and Michelle (Greg) Happy of Winnipeg, MB; his grandchildren, David (Christie), Ivan (Jodi), Clayton (Gisele), Ryan, Danny, Naomi, Danielle, Kaitlin, Brandon, Raelene, Owen, Molly, Sarah, Chase, Kirste, Carter and Cameron; his great-grandchildren, Karl, Nathan, Declan, Emma, Noah, Jorja, and Drew; his siblings, Tony Ottenbreit of Melville, Adam (Mary) Ottenbreit of Grayson and Doreen Stradeski of Grayson; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.
