Obituary for Martin Lang

Martin Lang
Martin Lang passed away in the early hours of Monday, November 5, 2018, at St. Peter’s Hospital at the age of 90 years.

Martin was born in the Killaly district February 14, 1928, to Anton and Appolonia (Paidel) Lang. He was baptized at Grayson, SK, and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Neudorf, SK. Martin attended Stella School in the Waldron district and received a Grade 6 education.

In Martin’s younger years, he stooked for nine days at $1.10/day. In 1952 he worked on the CN on the Cana Railroad and farmed in the Waldron district until 1953. In 1954 he worked on the pipeline and then moved to Neudorf and continued farming there until 1988, when he retired and moved into the town of Neudorf. He would still take drives out to the farm every day to pass his time. Martin enjoyed playing cards, especially hearts, on his laptop computer. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing pool. He became quite a pool shark, winning many trophies.

Martin married Katie Kraushaar on October 30, 1952, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Neudorf. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Marlene and Randy.

Martin started playing the button accordion at a very young age. He played for barn dances, weddings, house parties and even for his 80th birthday.

Martin was admitted to St. Paul Lutheran Home in November 2017.

Martin was predeceased by his parents, Anton and Appolonia, one brother in infancy, wife Katie, son-in-law David Erick, brothers Frank and Kasper and sisters Annie, Rose, Mary and Eda. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter Marlene, son Randy, brother Bill, five grandchildren, Garrett (Kristen), Daris, Todd (Michelle), Carrie, Julie (Allan), five great-grandchildren, Kyla, Kalika, Matthew, Nicole and Graysen, great-great-grandchild Zyler, and five godchildren.
