Obituary for Carmen Edward Kent

Carmen Edward Kent
Carmen passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at the age of 88. He was born, a twin brother to Don, on July 20, 1930, to Annie (Amy) and George Kent.

Carmen wed the love of his life, Winnie (Dorrance) on July 23, 1955. They had a real zest for life, both enjoying every experience, meeting new people, spending time with others, and they especially enjoyed travelling, always picking a new destination and many times accompanied by family or friends. Winnie passed away in August of 2014 after they had 59 years of a wonderful life together.

Carmen had many interests and was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He treasured his family, his garden, his community and his church. He especially loved this time of year and could still get up on the combine or grain trucks to ride along and enjoy harvest time.

Carmen leaves behind his children: Gordon (Donna) Kent, Donna (Larry) Smith and Karen (Chad) Souchotte, as well as five grandchildren: Richard (Brooke Anderson) Kent, Garrett (Jolene Tuchscherer) Kent, Nolan (Marissa Glofcheskie) Souchotte, Dustin and Ryan Souchotte. He also leaves his brothers Don (Betty) and Doug (Eileen) and was predeceased by his brother William. As well, Carmen leaves his in-laws: Elsie Allan, Annie Easton, Kay Dorrance, Tom (Irene) Dorrance, Margaret Guillaume and Clair (Lorna) Dorrance; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his in-laws, Aleita (Tom White and Ewald Prince), Mary (Sam) McClure, Rae Allan, Fred Easton, Joe Dorrance and Peter Guillaume.

Early in their marriage, Carmen and Winnie both taught in Prince Albert, SK, returning to Grenfell in 1965 to raise their family and complete their teaching careers. After assisting in the education of an entire generation of Grenfell children, they retired together in 1987.

Carmen had deep roots in Grenfell where he was raised on the Kent family farm just south of Grenfell in the Brown Hill district. Until his passing, he remained very active in the community and especially in St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church.
