Obituary for Robert Raymond Hutchinson

Robert Raymond Hutchinson died peacefully at St. Paul Lutheran Home, Melville, SK, on Sunday, May 20, 2018.

Bob was predeceased by his wife, Norma, in 2008 and two very special friends, Ginette and Mary. Left to cherish his memory are son Dennis; daughter Debbie (Tom) Link; four grandchildren, Reed, Shawn, Krystal (Chad) and Kyle (Kyla); and three great-grandchildren, Brooks, Felix and Eberlie.

Bob was born on February 17, 1925, in the Wapella district, where he lived and farmed until 1960. After selling the farm, he began his career with the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool as a grain buyer and then later to head office in Regina. Over the 30 years, his career took him and his family to Rocanville, Baring, Ryerson, Medstead and Peebles, Peebles being home for many of the years.

Bob was a respected sportsman and accomplished hunter. He founded Peebles Gun Club in the 1960s and was actively involved in the Regina Gun Club in his later years. Over the decades, Bob won numerous national marksmanship awards.

In 2015 Bob moved to Melville to be closer to his family. Helping him make the transition were Thelma and Vincent from Westview Manor. Health then took him to St. Paul Lutheran Home. Special thanks to all the staff on Railway Crossing. Dad will be remembered by his smile, big hugs, holding hands and that shot of scotch he so loved.

As per Bob’s request, there will be no funeral. A private family memorial will take place at a later day.
