Obituary for Joan Ferguson (Carter)

Joan Ferguson (Carter)
Joan was born in Whitewood, SK, on March 31, 1928, to Charlie and Stella (McGuire) Carter. Following high school graduation, she moved to Saskatoon to attend business school and then moved to Melville where she worked at the Bank of Montreal. It is there where Joan married Doug Ferguson in 1949, and they continued their life together in Melville until Doug’s passing in 2011. Joan loved her family dearly, and they were a great source of pride and happiness over the years. She was a great homemaker with cooking, baking and sewing being her fortes. Joan was strong in her faith and served her church as a member of the UCW and a Sunday School teacher. She also served the community as a member of the Kinette Club and was an avid golfer, bridge player and reader.

Joan was predeceased by her husband, Doug; her parents, Charlie and Stella Carter and sister, Pat Wood. She is survived by four sons, Jim (Linda), Dave (Lorraine), Alan (Eveline) and Ron (Robbin); her grandchildren, Carla (Aaron), Mark, Brett (Mel), Tara (Matt), Chantelle (Les), Kurtis (Ashton), Jillian, and great-grandchildren, Jayden, Megan, Jenna, Gunner, Charlee, Aubrey, William, Emery, Caden and Blakely; brothers-in-law, George Wood and Tom Chippendale; extended family and friends.
