Obituary for George Gamble

George Gamble
George was born in the Oakshela district and attended Meadow Lea and Pipestone Lake Schools. He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1943 and served as an aero-engine mechanic mainly in Eastern Canada until his discharge in 1946. In 1947 George and Marguerite Flick were married in Regina. During the years 1948 to 1955 they resided and farmed about 3 miles west of the home farm on land they purchased from Percy Wyatt. From 1955 until 1975 the family resided in Regina where George was employed by the Co-operative Creameries Limited. Returning to farm life in 1975 they took over the home farm where they resided until moving into Whitewood in 1986. In 1982 they took up winter residency in Yuma, Arizona for the next 25 years. Their summers were spent at cottages at Alice Beach and Bird’s Point. George enjoyed hockey and ball as a young man and was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing and was proud to water ski with his sons and grandchildren in his later years.

George was predeceased by his wife Marguerite, son Ken, parents Harold and Lucy Gamble, sister Frances (Alvin) Nordquist, brothers Doug (Sheila) Gamble, Milton Gamble, Ted (Kay) Gamble and Stan Gamble, and sister-in-law Helen Gamble.

He is survived by his son Ron (Hilda) Gamble, daughter-in-law Donna Gamble, son Morley (Kathy) Gamble, grandchildren Cheryle Gamble (Sheldon Kary), Chad Gamble (Lisa Zimmerman), Charmaine (Brian) Stouse, Kendra (Bryce) Thompson, Brad Gamble (Dakota Schmidt), Brock Gamble (Michelle Aasen), Burke (Jaden) Gamble, great-grandchildren Brenden Gamble, Madeline, Ava and Zoe Stouse, Mackenzie and Makaylin Thompson, Elizabeth and Boston Gamble, and his faithful dog Lady. George is also survived by family friend Michael Braddock, sister Evelyn Bradley, brother Leonard Gamble, sisters-in-law Amie Gamble and Mary McEachern and nieces and nephews.
