Obituary for Adam Jake Ulmer

Adam Jacob Ulmer passed away peacefully, with his wife at his side, at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville at the age of 83 years.

Adam was born on July 24,1930 and raised on the family farm 4 miles east of Duff, attending school at Colmer, which was just across the pasture from his home. He started playing ball at the age of 14 years for Colmer and continued for many years with the Duff Dodgers. He also played hockey and curled. Adam loved music and enjoyed playing the piano, organ and accordion and
sang in a church choir in Duff.

Adam led an active life in the community, serving for many years as a trustee on the Colmer School Board. He also served on the church council, the community club and the rink board of Duff and was a member on the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Committee. He was a hard-working and dedicated farmer until retirement in 1998 when he made the move to Melville. Adam continued to lend a helping hand to a neighbouring farmer, spent some leisure time with the seniors at the pool hall and enjoyed the company of friends playing cards. He was an avid fan of the Mils hockey and baseball teams and spent many hours watching sports on TV, especially hockey.

Adam leaves to cherish and celebrate his memory: his loving and supportive wife of nearly 59 years Shirley; his daughters Sharlene (Garth) Minto and Delene (Neall) Carmen; his sons Blair (Colleen) and Garnell (Kim); 12 grandchildren- Brendan, Kierra (Brian Gottfried), Logan (Amy), Landon and Dustin Minto; Jaime Carmen, Nathan, Nicolas and MacKenzie Ulmer and Lucas Ulmer; great-granddaughter Jevaeh Ulmer; his step-sister Sylvia (Wally) Lumb; sisters and brothers-in-law Lily and Adeline Senft, Doreen Stoll, Len and Clara Stoll, Herb and Sue Stoll, Lloyd and Delores Stoll and many nieces, nephews and friends.
