Obituary for Evelyn Irja Vennard (Koskela)

Evelyn passed away peacefully in Broadview at the Centennial Lodge with family and friends by her side. We cried and thanked her for showing us how to live a full life with the time we have.

Evelyn was born in the New Finland district on the family farm her grandparents homesteaded, which she bought back in 2004. She worked in Regina and then returned to Whitewood where she married Harold Vennard. Evelyn worked at the local hospital as a housekeeper. She was kept busy with five children and the barnacles, baking bread, knitting, sewing, card-playing, dancing and the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. The great outdoors was her passion whether it was picking berries in the heat of summer or the warmth of a campfire in January on her 80th birthday. For the last nine years, come May ‘til October, she made trips to her Koti Maa.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Harold; parents John and Susanna Koskela; brother Bill Koskela; and sisters Sylvia Campbell and Elsie Korby. She is survived by her children Lana (John) Banack, Dale (Linda) Vennard, Dianne (Harry) Harder, Lyle (Dawn) Vennard, Ina (Gordon) Golaiy, step-daughter Pat Godden; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
