Obituary for Irene Carmen Ouellette

Irene Carmen Ouellette was born November 28, 1923 in Kamsack, Saskatchewan to William and Florence (nee Funk) Ouellete. Irene and her mother moved to Melville in 1962, where Irene worked at Redenbach's K.W. Wholesale until she retired. Irene had always enjoyed painting and honed her talent during her retirement years. Irene loved the trips she took with her sister Cecilia to Europe, the USA and Canada, but preferred a quiet life with her yard and garden, her painting and visiting with friends and family. Irene moved to St. Philomena Manor in 2006 and, since she never liked cooking, she enjoyed the wonderful meals, the company of the residents and staff and Dave and Bev Hudy. When her health declined, she moved to St. Paul Lutheran Home. Irene will be remembered for her artwork and her eagerness to see new pictures of people and places. She painted for enjoyment and when she accepted commissions it was just to cover her costs. She was always polite and happy to be visited. She passed away peacefully on October 10, 2011 at the age of 87 years.Irene was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Cecilia Sullivan. She is survived by Cecilia's children, Maureen (Victor) Chesna, Denise (Blaine) Stoll and William (Shannon) Sullivan; great nephews and nieces, Michael and Mathew Chesna, Elizabeth Stoll and Cael and Cassandra Sullivan; and many other distant relatives scattered afar.
